Welcome to the International School of Havana!
It is my privilege to be serving the diplomatic and expatriate community of Havana, Cuba as the Director of ISH. Having grown substantially from its humble beginnings in a house on a hill with only 10 students in 1965, ISH now has over 296 students from more than 55 countries. Located in the historic Miramar district of the vibrant city of Havana, the school is in its 56th year of operation.
As the only English-medium school in Cuba, the International School of Havana serves children from Pre-Kindergarten through to Grade 12. We offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) for Grades 11-12, the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) for Grades 9-10, and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) from the United Kingdom for our Lower School aged students. We are also proud to be fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) having adopted the progressive ACE protocol.
While academic excellence constitutes the foundation upon which our community is built, we are also dedicated to meeting the needs of the whole child. ISH is also able to support students who are learning English as an additional language as well as students with mild learning disabilities.
Our students are engaged in a variety of activities designed to foster their physical, intellectual and emotional growth. Therefore, our skilled and talented faculty provide a well-rounded program of academics, fine arts, and athletics, complemented by a variety of after-school activities for all ages.
This website is meant as a resource to help both parents and students to understand our fundamental educational philosophy, our mission and our vision.
